How Much Does an Offshore Bookkeeper Cost in 2026?
The short answer: a dedicated offshore bookkeeper from the Philippines starts at $8.50/hour for a bookkeeper with 5+ years of experience. Here's the full breakdown by role, experience, and software.
The short answer
A dedicated, full-time offshore bookkeeper from the Philippines starts at $8.50 per hour for a bookkeeper with five or more years of accounting experience. That rate covers recruitment, vetting, the bookkeeper's time, and standard onboarding. It does not cover a placement fee, because we don't charge one.
Cost by experience
Rates are set by experience, not role. Every role — staff bookkeeper, senior bookkeeper, AP/AR clerk, payroll specialist, QuickBooks or Xero specialist — is priced on the same two tiers: $8.50/hour for a professional with 5+ years of experience, and $10.75/hour for 10+ years. A full-time engagement is 40 hours/week on your time zone, which works out to roughly $1,473/month or $1,863/month respectively.
What's included in the rate
The hourly rate covers the bookkeeper's full-time work (40 hours/week), recruitment and vetting, employment and payroll in the Philippines, statutory benefits and health coverage, and standard onboarding. You provide access to your software and client files. There is no separate placement fee and no long-term contract — the engagement is month-to-month.
What's billed separately, if anything
For most engagements, nothing is billed separately. If you need a large coordinated team (five or more bookkeepers) onboarded simultaneously, or a senior candidate with a rare specialization, we may scope a one-time setup fee — quoted upfront, never added silently. Software subscriptions (QuickBooks, Xero, Bill.com) are your existing accounts; we don't resell them.
How this compares to a local hire
A U.S. bookkeeper with comparable experience carries a base wage around $40/hour, and the fully-loaded cost — payroll taxes, workers' comp, health insurance, benefits, and overhead — runs $55 to $63/hour. The offshore rate is lower because employment costs are different in the Philippines, not because the work is lower quality. We lay out the full itemized comparison on our pricing page.
The bottom line
For a firm or practice that needs a dedicated bookkeeper full-time, an offshore engagement runs roughly $1,473/month at the starting rate. The same coverage from a local hire runs $9,000–$11,000/month fully loaded. That gap is what makes offshore bookkeeping staffing a practical growth strategy, not just a cost-cutting one.
