Role Specification
Remote Bookkeeper
Remote is how the work gets delivered. Dedicated is why it works.

What this role covers
Remote bookkeeping only fails when it is treated as a gig. A freelancer disappears mid-close; a platform worker juggles six other clients. A dedicated remote bookkeeper is a different animal: one person, employed full-time, working your hours inside your systems, reachable in your Slack or Teams all day. You get the cost structure of remote staffing with the reliability of a hire - because that is what it is. Your reviewer messages a colleague, not a ticket queue.
The monthly workflow
Core responsibilities
- Transaction categorization and bank feed maintenance to your chart templates
- Bank and credit card reconciliations, each tied to its statement monthly
- Accounts payable and receivable processing inside your approval workflow
- Month-end close support: schedules, tie-outs, and draft reporting
- Live availability in your communication tools during your working hours
- Documentation of processes and judgment calls for continuity
A day in the life
- Start the day in your Slack or Teams, on your hours, with a quick queue review
- Clear bank feeds and categorize transactions for assigned clients
- Reconcile two accounts and post the tie-outs for review
- Join a screen-share to walk a reviewer through an unusual item
- Process the AP batch and route approvals
- Log tomorrow's priorities so nothing waits on a timezone
The software, in detail
Remote candidates are fluent in the tools of a distributed firm: QuickBooks Online and Xero for the books, Slack or Microsoft Teams for the day-to-day, Zoom for walkthroughs, and practice management tools like Karbon or Financial Cents where firms use them. Screen sharing and recorded walkthroughs are standard practice.

- ✕IT, admin, or non-bookkeeping tasks outside the accounting function
Why Philippines-based talent excels here
Remote work is the Philippine accounting workforce's default mode: US-facing teams have worked US hours on US systems for years, in English, inside Slack and Teams. The discipline remote work demands - written updates, screen-share fluency, documented handoffs - is already their professional habit, and we test for it directly.
